China Mobile holds Quantum Technology Frontier Innovation Forum and releases a series of important achievements

On September 16th, China Mobile held a cutting-edge innovation forum on quantum technology with the theme of "Integrating quantity, communication, intelligence, and jointly opening up a new future". It deeply discussed the current situation and future opportunities of quantum technology development with industry, academia, and research sectors, and discussed industry bottlenecks and solutions. During the forum, China Mobile officially released a series of achievements such as the "Wuji-1" ion trap quantum computing device, and initiated the establishment of the "Quantum Intelligence Integration" innovation consortium under the guidance of the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and Zhongguancun Management Committee to help Beijing build a quantum computing innovation highland. Xue Qikun, winner of the National Highest Science and Technology Award and President of Southern University of Science and Technology, Duan Luming, Chair Professor of Basic Science at Tsinghua University, as well as relevant leaders from the State owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission's Science and Technology Innovation Bureau, Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Zhongguancun Management Committee, Changping District Committee Government, and Cheng Jianjun, member of China Mobile's Party Group and Deputy General Manager, attended the event.

Cheng Jianjun pointed out that as a backbone state-owned enterprise in the field of cyberspace, China Mobile resolutely implements the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee, strives to play three roles well, and serves as a vanguard in three areas. Since 2019, we have advanced the layout of quantum technology, taken the lead in undertaking multiple national key scientific research tasks, actively carried out organized scientific research, and achieved a series of breakthroughs in quantum computing and quantum communication, promoting the integrated development of scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation.

Cheng Jianjun stated that quantum computing still faces many challenges in core software and hardware technology research, large-scale applications, talent cultivation, and long-term stable market strategic investment. In response to these challenges, China Mobile will focus on four aspects of work. One is to collaborate with academic partners to promote the breakthrough of quantum computing hard core achievements. The second is to work together with industry partners to promote the integration of quantity, communication, intelligence, and computing capabilities. Thirdly, we will work together with partners in the education sector to cultivate high-end composite innovative talents. The fourth is to work together with investment partners to achieve win-win results and promote the investment of quantum specialized, refined, innovative and unicorn enterprises. China Mobile is willing to explore the construction of new research and development institutions and other carriers with government, industry, academia, research and application parties to accelerate the process of quantum computing from scientific research to industrialization.

At the meeting, China Mobile officially released the "Wuji-1" ion trap quantum computing device. This device supports precise manipulation of 100 qubits and achieves industry-leading comprehensive performance in key indicators such as single bit fidelity, dual bit fidelity, initial state preparation, and detection error rate. China Mobile will open up quantum computing devices, computing power resources, and algorithm verification environments, and collaborate with partners to overcome the technological and application bottlenecks of quantum computing.

Under the guidance of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Science and Technology and the Zhongguancun Management Committee, China Mobile has joined hands with universities, research institutes, and industry chain partners to establish the "Quantum Intelligence Integration" Innovation Alliance, bringing together the strengths of industry, academia, research, and application, comprehensively accelerating the integration and innovation of quantum computing and artificial intelligence, building an open, collaborative, mutually beneficial and win-win new ecology of quantum technology cooperation, and helping Beijing build a quantum computing innovation highland.

Looking towards the future, China Mobile will continue to work together with its partners to promote the integrated development of quantum technology, artificial intelligence, and information communication, accelerate the cultivation of new quality productivity, and contribute more wisdom and strength to the construction of a digital China.
